Exploring Genetic Expression: The Edinburgh Study

A group of psychologists at Edinburgh University tested their novel hypothesis that mothers’ dispositional romantic attachment links through maternal warmth to their children’s expression of a specific gene—the glucocorticoid receptor gene NR3C1. Higher expression of this gene correlates with better stress regulation and improves the inflammatory response.
